NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION
In commemoration of Nigeria’s 59th Independence, we had two colourful celebrations. In the Nursery & Primary phase, children and staff were dressed in different traditional attires representing various ethnic groups in Nigeria. Artefacts and Delicacies were on display and there was a special assembly where children learnt historical facts about Nigeria. There was also an Inter-house Competition in Dance, Drama and Acoustic poetry. Yellow House emerged the winner of the competition with an aggregate of 139.3 points. It was indeed a great time for the children to celebrate their country. In the secondary phase, the celebration was charged with a sense of unity and patriotism with the students and staff also dressed in different traditional attires; the inter-house competition was intriguing and the event turned out as hoped thrilling! Blue House emerged first place with 81 points.

WORLD TEACHERS DAY:
World Teachers’ day is celebrated around the world on October 5. In both phases, this special occasion was celebrated on Monday , October 7 with special assemblies for teachers. In the secondary phase, it was a surprise celebration for the teachers in appreciation of all that they do and it was a moment to never forget. The programme was coordinated by the outgoing and acting prefects and it was filled with fun activities from beginning to end. The teachers were adorned with hand made pin-up badges, videos were aired to commend their worth, the hall reeled in laughter as some teachers were mimicked and there were also teary eyed students and teachers during the testimonial segment. The special highlight of the day was the Awards segment. Teachers nominated by students were presented with special badges. Overall it was an eventful day enjoyed not only by teachers but also by students.

PREFECTS INDUCTION:
As a school, we pride ourselves in developing well-rounded children who will become future exemplary leaders in society. In line with this, prefects for the 2019/2020 academic session were inducted into different school leadership roles at the Prefects Induction Ceremony which held on Friday September 27. It was a colourful ceremony as parents of the prefects were invited to witness the event. The Guest Speaker at the event enjoined the pupils to embrace leadership as it has no age limits and be ready to take responsibility stating examples of leaders in the Bible. Members of the Students Representative Council (SRC) were also inducted at the event and were drawn from each class in the primary school (a boy and a girl each).

YEAR 6 RHEMA CLASS ASSEMBLY ON WORLD WAR 2: In line with their theme for the term, The Year 6 Rhema class assembly on “World War 2” took place on Friday, October 4 in the school hall. It was an enlightening showcase of the historical facts about World War 2. The pupils dressed in Camouflage outfit like soldiers presented a talk show where they discussed about how countries in the past, used weapons of war to oppress the Jews. The pupils reiterated that in today’s world that preaching the gospel is necessary to foster peace in the nations. They encouraged Christians to be resolute and not give up in preaching the gospel. In closing, they had an interesting military chant where they gave individual resolutions on how to stand for the gospel always.

YEAR 6 PHRONESIS CLASS ASSEMBLY ON WORLD WAR 2:Year 6 Phronesis class assembly was also on “World War 2 and took place on Friday, October 11 in the school hall. The pupils were dressed in Camouflage tops and combat shorts with berets as head gear. Parents were thrilled to the presentation which started with a military parade, followed by a recitation of historical facts about the World War 2, the types of wars and the effects of wars. The climax of the presentation was a short drama highlighting wars at different levels as “Fruitless”. It encouraged peaceful co-existence amongst people in all nations. It was indeed a presentation to remember.

NURSERY 1 SCHOOL TRIP TO SHODEX GARDENS:
Our Nursery 1 pupils went on their first school trip on Tuesday, October 15. In line with their theme for the term, “Animals”, they visited Shodex Gardens. It was a time of fun and learning as they were taken on a tour of the beautiful gardens to see the different types of animals. The pupils also learnt about different types of plants and flowers and their uses. Lastly, they visited the play area where they had a great time on the different play equipment. They were also treated to light refreshments to as they enjoyed the beautiful scenery.
